The Confederate Heroes Monument depicts a Confederate soldier holding a rifle raised on a marble plinth was sculpted by Herbert Barbee, a third generation native of Luray Virginia in 1876. Our restoration work included the systematic disassembly and reconstruction of the 22 foot tall monument. The work included forming and placement of a new concrete foundation, construction of a new masonry core, cleaning (heated, pressurized, filtered water), patching (Jahn M120) and repairing the marble (Dutchman and reconstruction) Molding, casting and replication of missing elements.
